There are two pathways available to full resistration as a Psychologist: The 4+2 internship program is an intensive training program in psychology completed over two years (or equivalent part- time) under supervision of a Psychologist registered with AHPRA to provide this program. This pathway enables the individual to gain the supervised experience necessary to become eligible to apply for general registration as a psychologist. The 5+1 internship program refers to a sequence of accredited tertiary study comprising coursework and practical placements offered by a registered tertiary institution, followed by a sixth year (one year full- time or equivalent part- time) supervised practice internship approved by the Psychology Board of Australia. The sixth year internship program is a one- year program (or equivalent part- time) of intensive training during which the provisional psychologist consolidates the skills and knowledge developed during the first five years of training and applies them in a practical setting. There are three main components to the internship program: Psychological practice – minimum 4. Supervision (1. 76+ hours) being at least 7. Professional development – 6. Both 4+2 and 5+1 pathways require evidence of completion of supervised training across 8 core competencies: Knowledge of the discipline. Ethical, legal and professional matters. Psychological assessment and measurement. Intervention strategies. Research and evaluation. Communication and interpersonal relationships. Lyndon commenced his training to become a Psychologist in 1997. After completing a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology and an Honours degree in Psychology, Lyndon subsequently completed a Master of Counselling Psychology. Working within a cross- cultural context. Practice across the lifespan. In addition, provisional psychologists that are completing the 4+2 and 5+1 internship program and who apply for general registration after 1 July 2. National Psychology Examination during their sixth year internship, before applying for general registration.* Interns will have the opportunity to work with clients attending our Free Counselling & Coaching Clinic during their internship, along with organizing and delivering group workshops and attending group training opportunities with other interns. FEE: $1. 25. 0. 0 per hour (GST free)Provisional Psychologists Group Supervision Workshops. These 1- day intensive group workshops are specifically designed to provide provisionally registered (intern) psychologists with skills required to complete the competencies for full registration.
